Esol - Water pollution

Water is life, take care of it!

We cant drink water. Water pollution is a serious environmental issue. Water is said to be polluted if its physical, biological, and chemical properties are deteriorated via anthropogenic and natural activities. water pollution has impacted humans and animals in all aspects. It is hazardous to the environment.

What is water pollution? The water we drink daily usually looks clean; however, it is contaminated with microscopic pollutants. In New Zealand, it is a big problem because there is a lot of farmlands and rural areas. Animals on farms poo everywhere and it goes down into the soil and finds its way into the ocean and sea. However, we cannot do anything to it because farming is one of the main businesses in NZ. It has been the NZ backbone for the economy.

Science

Copper Coin Experiment

First, we cleaned our Coins in Salt and vinegar solution. Then we put 50ml of 2mol+ Naoh into a beaker. We heated the beaker on the bunsen burner and stir as heating and then take off the heat. We added a spatula of Zinc powder and heat lightly for 30 min with the coin inside and stir as heating. Then we take the coin out with the scissor tongs. After that, we rinse the coin under water to remove chunks of zinc and the last thing we did was wave the coin in the blue flame using tongs and the coin turned to gold. And that was the end of the experiment

The periodic table

what are the different types of elements? metals, non-metals, and gasses

What are the transition metals? The 38 elements in groups 3 through 12 of the periodic table are called "transition metals".

What are Alkali metals? any of the elements lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, caesium, and francium, occupying Group IA (1) of the periodic table. They are very reactive, electropositive, monovalent metals forming strongly alkaline hydroxides.

what are noble gasses? any of the gaseous elements helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon, occupying Group 0 (18) of the periodic table. They were long believed to be totally unreactive but compounds of xenon, krypton, and radon are now known.

Acid Rain Experiment: Science

What is Acid Rain? Acid rain is a rain or any other form of precipitation that is unusually acidic.

How does it form? Acid rain is caused by a chemical reaction that begins when compound like sulfur
dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air.

Why does acid rain matter? because acid rain cause pollution and pollution cause disease

Method:
1. set up petri dish
-Add a few drops of water to these.

2.Add 1 spatula of sodium sulfide to weigh boat
-take photo

3.Add 5 drops of sulfuric acid and quickly put lid on

4.watch and take photos
